The giant pirate barge set in a post apocalyptic depression came to mind from Anthony Jones thumbnail challenge.
Everything else is just more painting practice, color, value, brushwork, etc.
I've discovered a few brushes that really suit most of my needs, which is great because now I can paint faster without having to paint over my noodly brush strokes.
